Rory Holden Would Be Happy to Return to Walsall Next Season

Walsall's on-loan Bristol City midfielder Rory Holden has spoken ahead of this weekend's League Two clash with Exeter City and admitted he would be happy to return to the Saddlers when his loan spell ends.
The 22-year-old, who has made thirty-five appearances since joining on a season-long loan in the summer, has been in fine form as of late and has played a major role in helping the Saddlers to a four-game unbeaten run.

Holden, a former Derry City apprentice who enjoyed loan spells with Barrow and Rochdale after joining Bristol City in May 2017, went on to admit his immediate future is uncertain but is planning to hold talks with his parent club.

Speaking via the Express & Star, Rory said; "I don’t know really. For me, I just think about now and play as many games as possible to help Walsall.

"Do as well as I can and see what happens next year. I’d have to have a chat with my agent and Bristol City, but I’d be happy to come back here. It’s a fantastic club and it’s been good for me."

Holden has been utilised in a variety of positions since arriving in WS1 over the summer and insists he is happy to play wherever he is asked, but believes the ‘number 10 role’ allows him to have a greater impact upon the team.

When asked about his preferred playing position, Rory added; "I think playing in behind the strikers, but I’d play anywhere for the team. Play right-wing, left-wing, sitting midfield – it doesn’t matter really, wherever the gaffer puts me I’ll play there."
