21-year-old's Adebayo came off the bench to bag a match-winning brace against promotion-chasing Exeter City at the Banks's on Saturday afternoon and is keen to continue his recent spell of form against the Silkmen next weekend.
Following a slow start to his Saddlers career the former Fulham man has now netted eight goals from his thirty-seven appearances putting him two behind Lavery and four behind recent strike partner Gordon.
Adebayo, who enjoyed loan spells with Cheltenham Town, Swindon Town and Stevenage before making the permanent switch to WS1 in the summer, says the competition between the trio is healthy but he is determined to top the Saddlers scorers list.
Speaking via the club's official website, Elijah said; "It's a good race. Flash is ahead and I've told him I'm going to catch him but he doesn't think so. We all get on and we all have different aspects of our game that we bring to the team.
"We all know what we have to do, we know we're doing it for the team. If someone isn't doing it, someone else will come on and do it - there's a good bond between us three."
Elijah, who has scored three goals in his last two outings, admitted he is pleased with both his and the team’s form over recent weeks and believes hard work has been key to the upturn as the Saddlers continue to edge closer to the top-half of the table..
Elijah continued; "I couldn't really tell you what the formula is, we've just used the confidence in the camp and everyone has finally gelled - you can see that progression.
"We've used every game as it comes, one by one, to take what we can and leave it all out on the pitch. Don't leave the pitch thinking we could have given more, everyone giving 100 per cent out there.
"Sometimes we can be better with the ball but the hard work and desire is there, hard work beats talent at the end of the day. That's the main thing, if everyone works hard then other qualities will come out."
