Clarke Keen to Bring the Season to a Successful Conclusion

As his squad continues to train from home, Walsall manager Darrell Clarke has spoken to the local press and admitted he believes the 2019/20 season must be brought to a successful conclusion, whether supporters are allowed into the stadium or not.
As the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic continues to spread the EFL, Premier League and FA recently agreed to postpone fixtures until at least Thursday, 30th April and the powers that be are expected to extend that deadline further over the coming weeks.

All tiers below the National League's North and South have seen their season declared null and void and although Clarke insists he would prefer to play with Saddlers fans in attendance, he believes the season must be concluded in any way possible.

Speaking via the Express & Star, Darrell said; "I think any manager and any player will tell you that you want to play in front of a crowd but that might not be possible or plausible.

"We’ve got to make sure we’re following the advice from the health care authorities and follow the fantastic job that they’re doing.

"We need to be on the front foot with that and not looking after a load of spectators if it comes to that.

"We don’t know which way that is going to go – obviously we would like to play in front of a crowd but the main importance is trying to get the season finished.

"I think everyone is agreeing that that is the main priority and that is the right thing to do, whenever that may be.

"We have to decide when is the right time to re-commence and if we have to wait for the time where fans can come in, fine, that’s fantastic.

"You’re just hoping that everyone is staying safe and that people are looking after their loved ones.

"The NHS have been great and we’re all grateful, so the football, which has obviously come to a stand still, is just something that we have to accept."
