Rory Holden 'Buzzing' After Netting Match-Winning Goal

Following his first goal in a Walsall shirt as the Saddlers mounted a superb comeback against Northampton Town at the weekend, on-loan Bristol City winger Rory Holden has spoken to the press and admitted he is 'buzzing' to finally get off the mark.
22-year-old Holden capped off a superb second-half which saw the Saddlers bounce back from being two down at the break to take all three points just moments before referee Ben Toner called for full-time.

Rory, a second-half substitute who replaced Stuart SInclair with twenty-five minutes of the game remaining, bagged the game's winning goal in the ninety-third minute to help the Saddlers extend their latest unbeaten run to three games.

Holden, a former Northern Ireland under-21 international, went on to praise the Saddlers faithful who had made their way to Banks's Stadium despite Storm Dennis wreaking havoc over much of the region.

Speaking via the Express & Star, Rory said; "It’s my first professional goal. Wes did really well to play it into me and it was a bit of luck but I think I needed that after so many games.

"I’m buzzing, I’ve never had that feeling before. I’ve scored in Ireland, but it’s not the same with the fans getting behind you, it was fantastic. The timing was perfect to score my first goal in the 93rd minute to win it.

"I was thinking ‘it’s about time’. I was elated, I couldn’t believe it and I was just happy for everyone to get the three points. We worked really hard for it.

"We all have to chip in with goals – if we can score as many as we can from midfield, it will help us massively.

"The conditions played their part in the first half, but in the second half we were all over them and the final goal sums it up. We worked really hard to get it. The fans were fantastic and got right behind us after the first half. They were the twelfth man."
