Leigh Pomlett: "Let's Go Again This Afternoon"

Walsall Chairman Leigh Pomlett has addressed supporters ahead of this afternoon's Sky Bet League Two clash between the Saddlers and Northampton Town.
Walsall will be taking on the Cobblers with a view to building upon last weekend's welcome win over Forest Green Rovers and subsequent draw with Newport County as they continue to rebound from a run of defeats.

The chairman, whose comments can also be found in today's matchday programme, covers a variety of subjects including the first-team's form, recent awayday followings, and the recently launched Early Bird campaign.

Speaking via the club's official website, Leigh said; "We’ve had a positive week having picked up four points from two very tough away fixtures against Forest Green Rovers and Newport County. I would like to thank to each and every supporter who made those trips.

"The 995 who travelled to The New Lawn was outstanding as was, for different reasons, the 188 hardy souls who braved the weather to make the trip to Wales on Tuesday evening. Your support really is appreciated.

"We launched our Early Bird campaign for the 2020/21 season this week, which is the single most important campaign we run. I felt it was important to freeze prizes at this moment in time.

"I want to encourage more supporters to come through the door and increasing prices is unlikely to achieve that, particularly as our home form has not particularly justified it.

"The more fans that are in the stadium, the better the atmosphere and the better financial performance of the club. We have to play our part in that, one by freezing the prizes but also offering an incentive.

"We feel we have come up with an innovative way to tackle this issue; Strength In Numbers. For every milestone we reach in terms of sales, supporters will get a discount for each threshold that break through.

"We’ve set the bar at 3,000, 3,500, 4,000, 4,500 and 5,000. I know 5,000 is hugely optimistic but ultimately, that’s where I want to get to. I wish I could reduce the season tickets even more but unfortunately, that’s not economically possible.

"We’ve tried to be as creative and as imaginative as we can be and I hope we will get a positive response. They are on sale from next Saturday and there are some ‘money can’t buy’ prizes available to those of you who purchase in the opening ten days.

"As we look to deliver a team capable of challenging and ultimately achieving promotion, your support of the Early Bird campaign is vital. I’d like to end by thanking you all for the way you have stuck by us this season. Let’s go again this afternoon."
