Clarke was able to complete the permanent signing of Reading winger Jack Nolan before landing Fleetwood Town midfielder Nathan Sheron on loan during the window but missed out on an 'experienced winger' as players priced themselves out of the club's reach.
With the prospect of both promotion and relegation likely avoided for the season Clarke is hoping to field some of the club's prospects as the Academy continues to play a major role in the future of the club.
The manager, who has already offered appearances to the likes of Sam Perry and Alfie Bates, went on to call upon his team to stick together and work hard to cut out the mistakes which continue to take their toll.
Speaking via the Express & Star, Darrell said; "They’ll be younger lads getting opportunities at the football club, as they have done this season.
"I’m building a football club but at the minute I keep building and then the blocks keep getting knocked down, which can happen.
"What we have to do is stick together as a group and keep working away and eventually, over a period of time, the fans can start enjoying the football on a more regular basis.
"We only look at and care about our own job and I think we’re shooting ourselves in the foot on numerous occasions this season. Until we start cutting that out, we’ll be no-where near the top half of this table.
"We have to do that and tidy up loads of areas, but the buck stops with me and my staff. That’s for us to help and support the players as much as we possibly can.
"Make them strong, more organised, manager picking better selections - all the bits and pieces that come into it that will help us win football games."
