Walsall have lost their last six outings and will be looking return to winning ways this weekend as they seek to secure safe passage to the Second Round of the world's oldest club cup competition.
Walsall and the reformed Darlington have never met, however, there have been a total of forty-two competitive meetings between the Saddlers and the club which it replaced.
The Saddlers hold a comfortable win/loss lead over their opponents having won on eighteen times compared to the Quakers' eleven.
There have also been thirteen draws over the history of the fixture, a history which began at at Feethams on Monday, 2nd January 1922 as the two sides met in a Division Three (North) clash which Darlington won by five-goals-to-nil.
The Saddlers would go on to lose four of the first five meetings between the two and wouldn't secure their first victory over the Quakers until their sixth meeting, which took place at Fellows Park on Saturday, 8th March 1924, and saw the Saddlers triumph 2-1.
The most recent FA Cup meeting between the two was a First Round clash which took place on Saturday, 28th November 1931 and saw Darlington win by one-goal-to-nil.
