Elijah Adebayo: 'The Mood Remains Positive, But We Know We Have to Do Better'

Walsall striker Elijah Adebayo has spoken head of this weekend's Emirates FA Cup - First Round clash between the Saddlers and Darlington and has insisted confidence remains high, despite a string of bad results.
The Saddlers arrive at this weekend's cup clash on the back of six straight defeats and in desperate need of both a win and a positive performance as their 2019/20 campaign continues to be a struggle.

Adebayo, who joined Walsall from Fulham over the summer, has bagged just two goals in seventeen first-team appearances since arriving in WS1 and is keen to see his side begin to grind out results as, despite the odd improved display, they continue to lose games.

Elijah, who also counts Cheltenham Town, Swindon Town, and Stevenage among his list of previous (loan) clubs, believes that once the Saddlers can secure that all-important first win they will be able to build upon in heading into the subsequent game.

Speaking via the Express & Star, Elijah said; "There’s always going to be confidence there. We haven’t had the best run of results lately, but no-one is getting too down about it because we know things can change quickly.

"We know we have to be better but the mood around the camp is still positive. We can go into any game and win. A win would do all of us a world of good. Nothing ever comes easy in this league, we know to get a win we’ll have to fight really hard.

"I’m sure once we get that win the weight will be lifted and we can go into the next game with that confidence when we won four on the bounce. We’re into the season now and we need to start getting the results that will make the fans happy.

"The performance was better but the result was still the same, we need to get that balance of a good performance and a result. It will make the fans a lot more happy, at the end of the day they want to see the team win.

"There was a stage where we couldn’t really score then we go and score three goals at Crawley and we knew it would come at some stage. We just have to be patient, but we want to get it sooner rather than later."
