The former Manchester City right-back has found himself behind Cameron Norman in the pecking order in League Two so far this season, but impressed during the Trophy clash with the Sky Blues.
Despite the match ending in a penalty shootout defeat, 24-year-old Facey, who joined the Saddlers after leaving Northampton Town at the end of last season, hopes he did enough to be selected on Saturday as Darrell Clarke's side take on Colchester United.
Speaking via the club's official website, Shay said; "It was a long awaited start for me – getting on the field and I enjoyed every minute of it. I’m looking to build on what was a steady, strong performance.
"There was a bit of pressure because the team has done well defensively, But there is pressure in every game, it’s about how you deal with that pressure. You just have to go about your business and do the best you can."
When asked what the manager wants him to do in order to secure a starting spot, Shay added; "He wants all his players to be consistent in training and show the right attitude.
"Whether you are in the squad or out the squad, you need all the players. If you’re not in the team you have to push the ones that are that is what I have been doing. I’ve deserved my chance and I feel I gave a good account of myself."
