The manager, who replaced Dean Keates in the dugout at Banks's Stadium, has signed fifteen new players since arriving in the summer and Roberts is one of just a handful of players who were retained from last season's squad.
Liam, who has held the club's number 1 shirt since the start of last season, feels the changes have been positive, revealing that the manager is keen to see a high workrate and has built a group of positive players.
Speaking via the club's official website, Liam said; "It’s been very different. It’s been positive and the work rate and attitude is always a must. We defend from the front and enjoy going and playing football.
"The gaffer’s brilliant and the coaching staff are all really good people. This summer’s been a bit of a big one but the lads are brilliant, there’s not one bad egg in the group and everyone’s got a great attitude."
Liam went on to reveal that he had a productive pre-season which has had an impact on his positive start to the campaign. The Walsall-born stopper continued; "I just had to get in early and try to work on my weaknesses and I kept working on my strengths and they got better.
"I knew myself it would change; self belief gets you through anything so for me I had to keep knuckling down.
"You have to show what I need to do and I need to be so I came to training and made sure I did everything right and in the off season I made sure that I got bigger, faster and stronger."
The Saddlers will be looking for their first home win of the season when they take on Grimsby tomorrow afternoon and Roberts is expecting a tough, physical challenge from the Mariners but feels the Reds need to deal with that and also have more cutting edge in the final third.
Liam added; "We need to be more ruthless in front of goal. We’ve done well in our box but it’s just reciprocating that in the attacking half.
"It’s making sure we’re organised at the back when they’re in the final third but for me it’s just a little bit of composure getting into the box.
"They’re a strong and physical team so if we can deal with that and then implement our game then hopefully we’ll get a positive performance."
