Clarke’s team have made a steady if unspectacular start to the 2019/20 campaign, losing just one of their opening four league games.
And the gaffer feels his side’s performances have merited more so far this season but believes there is plenty to be optimistic about.
The Saddlers opened their campaign with a win over Northampton before drawing with Forest Green, losing to Crewe, and then holding Newport to a draw in midweek.
And whilst the manager admitted his disappointment at a lack of points, he was keen to remain positive as the team continues to gel following a busy summer of change in WS1.
Speaking via the club's official website, Darrell said; "I’m disappointed we’re not a couple of points better off because I think the performances have warranted that but you don’t always get what you deserve in football.
"I’m really pleased about the togetherness and how the fans are approaching the season. They know it’s now quick fix, we’ve got the biggest turnaround in all four divisions of the EFL and they realise that.
"Twenty-six players out and fifteen in and that’s a big turnaround but to say where we are now and the manager’s a bit disappointed not to be on two or three points more, I think we’ve got plenty to look forward to in the future.
"We’ve got to keep developing as a squad. We’ve got a good honest set of lads, some haven’t had their opportunity yet but their opportunities will come along the way.
"It’s about coaching players and getting them on the grass. One or two will probably come in before the end of the window and then we’ll get working with the group."
