The Saddlers arrived at their awayday clash with Nigel Clough's side on the back of last weekend's victory over Bradford City and in desperate need of a positive result with relegation still a very big possibility.
Keates, who has seen his side take four points from their last two games, believes that Guthrie and Scarr were outstanding as they continue to build a partnership at the centre of the Saddlers' backline, before going on to praise goalkeeper Liam Roberts who was also in fine form.
Speaking via the Express & Star, Dean said; "I thought both the centre-backs were outstanding. I left Jon out two games go but I’ve had a response. He was outstanding against Bradford and he built on that against Burton.
"Dan Scarr is new to the club and hadn’t played a lot of football at Birmingham – only under-23s football. But it has always been a case of putting in building blocks in place for him, allowing him time to settle into the football club.
"He has got stronger with every performance. All the back four and Robbo as well were outstanding at Burton. Everything they had to do, they did well."
