The manager, who has seen his transfer fund boosted by the departure of Josh Ginnelly to Preston North End, went on to ask for patience as he and many other gaffers are chasing the same players so he has to make sure that he is signing the right players and doesn't end up with a panic purchase.
The manager also admitted that he would like to sign players quickly but is also prepared to play the waiting game as he looks to add quality to his squad with plenty of the season still to play.
Speaking via the Express & Star, the Walsall-born boss said; "We want to add a few more bodies. There are funds there and all being well we can add the right ones. But it is, at the moment, a false window. Prices have been driven a lot higher.
"Everybody is chasing the same players so we have to make sure they are the right ones for us moving forward. We have got targets, we are speaking to people and we have been for the past few weeks.
"If we can get them in early, great. If not, we have to be patient and make sure they are the right ones for the squad."
