Walsall Striker Mitchel Candlin Joins Blackburn Rovers on Initial Loan Deal

Highly-rated Walsall striker Mitchel Candlin has joined Sky Bet Championship side Blackburn Rovers on loan with the 18-year-old potentially joining the Ewood Park club on a permanent basis in January.
Tony Mowbray's side, who knocked Lincoln City out of the Carabao Cup earlier this week, were not the only club said to be keen to acquire the Stafford-born striker with Premier League sides Brighton and Hove Albion, and Watford, along with Championship outfit Leeds United, also said to be keeping a keen eye on his availability.

Stafford-born Candlin, who is has joined Rovers on loan with the former Premier League champions then having an option to buy in January, was yet to make much of an impact in the Walsall first-team, but is a consistent performer for the club's development side, and is seen as someone with a bright future, having bagged plenty of goals, earning a contract until the summer of 2020.

Mitchel, who has been an unused substitute for much of the early stages of the campaign, is no stranger to speculation, having previously been linked with moves to clubs such as Manchester United and West Ham United, who are among a host of clubs to have scouted the youngster over recent seasons.

News, released via Blackburn's official website - Rovers.co.uk - confirms; Rovers are pleased to confirm the signing of highly-rated young striker Mitchel Candlin from Walsall. The 18-year-old joins on an initial loan deal, with an option to make the move permanent in January.
