Morgan Ferrier: "It's Been a Surreal Few Weeks"

Walsall striker Morgan Ferrier has spoken to the local press ahead of Saturday's League One clash with Rochdale, and discussed his first few weeks at the club, admitting that it has been something of a whirlwind.
The 23-year-old, who joined the Saddlers for an undisclosed fee on Transfer Deadline Day, admitted that it had been a surreal few weeks, but believes that the trust which Dean Keates has shown in him has helped him to hit the ground running

Morgan, who was speaking via the Express & Star, said; "It’s been a surreal few weeks but sometimes it’s good that you walk in the door and play. It can be difficult if you sign for a club and you have to spend a week or two on the bench, or the gaffer looks to integrate you slowly.

"He threw me straight in at the deep end so I knew what he expected of me. I knew what the club and the fans expected of me. That has benefited me and now I am relishing every game."

The striker, who first came to Keates' attention while playing in the National League, believes that the gaffer, who was then the boss of Wrexham, is key to his early season form, he continued; "The fact that he knows me – that is one of the best things. He has given me massive motivation to be myself and play my game.

"That has helped me a lot. He speaks to me one-to-one, he is a brilliant man manager. And he has given me the confidence to go out and express myself and play."
