Loan Watch: Slinn Starts as The Pics Hold Banbury United to a Draw

Walsall goalkeeper Joe SLinn is currently enjoying a season-long loan with local Evo-Stik Southern Premier Central side Rushall Olympic. Here we take a look at how he got on in his latest outing for the Pics.
19 year-old Slinn, who joined the Saddlers on a free transfer after being released by Port Vale at the end of last season, enjoyed a loan spell at Dales Lane towards the end of the 2017/18 campaign and will be keen to maximise his playing time as he looks to catch the eye of Saddlers boss, Dean Keates.

There were 271 fans in attendance as Liam McDonald's Pics opened their league campaign at home to Banbury United on Saturday afternoon.

Those in attendance were given a treat midway through the first-half as Puritans striker Rami Shamsi opened the scoring with a stunning thirty-yard strike. Slinn, who had been able to prevent the visitors from scoring on a couple of occasions earlier in the half, was simply a spectator as Shamsi let rip in some style.

Thankfully for the Pics, and despite goal-scoring chances becoming something of a rare commodity, they were eventually able to level the scores with less than ten minutes remaining as Danny Waldron slipped the ball past James Goff in the Banbury goal.

A solid point for the Pics and some much needed first-team football for Slinn, who will no doubt be disappointed not to keep hos sheet clean, but there will be plenty of time to improve on that throughout the season.
