Defensive Duo Remain on Trial as Keates Considers His Options

According to the latest media reports, Ex-Liverpool and Middlesbrough defender Tom Brewitt and former Burton Albion centre-back Tomáš Egert are both still training with the Walsall squad, as manager Dean Keates continues to look to add numbers to his backline.
The duo, who played a part in the recent pre-season victory over Ajax Amsterdam, are the only remaining trialists from the five who line-up against the Dutch footballing giants and are said to be high on Keates' list of potential signings with both impressing the manager and supporters during the run up to the 2018/19 campaign.

Egert and Brewitt were initially joined on trial by former Millwall defender Christian Mbulu, and New Zealand international Adam Mitchell as well as Cypriot forward Michalis Giorkatzis, but now just two remain with the pair likely to receive contract offers in the not too distant future as Keates recently confirmed he hopes to add to his team before the opening game of the season.

The pair are expected to play a part for the Saddlers as they take on Cheltenham Town on Saturday afternoon in what will be the teams final pre-season friendly ahead of next week's season-opening clash with Plymouth Argyle.
