Walsall Scholar Agrees Leeds United Switch

According to media reports, Walsall and Leeds United have come to terms on a deal which will see 16-year-old left-back Joshveer Shergill join the Elland Road club ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.
Shergill, who was released by recently-relegated West Bromwich Albion earlier this year, was due to begin a two-year scholarship with the Saddlers at the start of July after putting pen-to-paper earlier this month, but will now join the Peacocks after the two clubs agreed terms on a surprise switch.

Various media outlets are reporting that Leeds United, who recently appointed Marcelo Bielsa as their new Head Coach, will pay Walsall a fee of £25,000 with the Banks's Stadium side also agreeing a sell-on clause should the youngster subsequently move to another club.

Leeds have agreed a deal to sign 16-year-old left-back Joshveer Shergill from Walsall - His scholarship with the midlands club was not scheduled to begin until July 1 but Leeds have stepped in to sign the talented youngster.

Walsall manager Dean Keates has been busy working on securing new arrivals for the coming campaign and will no-doubt welcome the extra cash, but this deal will still come as a surprise to many, especially as the Saddlers hadn't even confirmed the youngster's arrival.
