The twenty-seven year-old, who was the National league top-scorer after bagging twenty-eight goals in all-competitions, sought to praise both the club and its supporters as he prepares to say his final goodbyes before making the move to the midlands in just a few short weeks.
Cook, speaking via his official Twitter account and the ever-popular iPhone notes application, said; "Just wanted to give my thanks and appreciation to everyone at Tranmere Rovers for the last two years. It's been an honour to play for such a huge club and their fantastic support, i hope the fans can see that i've given everything I could whilst wearing the shirt and I'm over the moon we managed to get back to the football league where the club belongs.
"Football is a short career, i’m 28 in October and i may never get the chance to play league one football again, so after lots of consideration, the challenge at Walsall is something i have to take. This decision has always been a footballing one and i hope anyone connected with Tranmere Rovers understands. I wish Tranmere all the best next season!
"All the best, Cooky."
