Jon Guthrie: "Everyone is Out to Impress"

Jon Guthrie has spoken to the press and admitted that he and his teammates are hoping to impress new manager Dean Keates as they look to secure a spot in the starting line-up.
Saddlers centre-back Jon Guthrie says that the squad is working hard to impress new first-team manager Dean Keates as the gaffer continues to shape the side into a stronger defensive unit.

Jon, who has made forty-four appearances ahead of this afternoon's clash with Portsmouth, was speaking via the Express & Star, and said; "Everyone is out to impress. When a new manager comes in it’s a clean slate, everyone knows they have got a chance to be in the team for what is a huge game against Portsmouth. We have all heard the stories about him – he is a legend around here. And he has come in and been really positive. We have had a really good week.

"He has worked us hard on the training ground and has drilled some new things into us. He has brought with him fresh ideas. He wants us to be harder to beat – we all know that we have conceded too many goals. We need to tighten up. But going forward as well, he has brought fresh ideas. He has made it clear we can improve all over."
