Walsall midfielder Joe Edwards has taken to Twitter to confirm that he has successfully undergone an operation on his injured knee and is has since returned home as he starts on the road to recovery.
Edwards, who suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury during February's defeat to League One leaders Blackburn Rovers, is expected to be out of action until early next season after limping off during the defeat to the title-chasing former Premier League side.
The club vice-captain, speaking via his official Twitter feed, also took the time to wish now former Walsall manager Jon Whitney 'all the best' following his recent dismissal, before insisting his focus now turns to getting fit, he said; "Back at home resting up after a successful Op yesterday. Just like to wish the Gaffer all the best. All my focus now on getting back fit and giving all my support to the boys for the rest of the season."
Joe, who has made over eighty first-team appearances since joining the club on a free transfer from Colchester United in the summer of 2016, is out of contract in the summer and is expected to wait until the end of the season before deciding where his future lies.
