Former Walsall midfielder Dean Keates has reportedly dismissed the rumours linking him with the newly vacant Walsall manager's job despite being among the favourites to land the role following Monday afternoon's sacking of Jon Whitney.
Dean, who is currently the manager of Vanarama National League title-chasers Wrexham, is joint favourite to join the Saddlers as he and current Coventry City assistant-manager Adrian Viveash continue to be linked with a move to the Bescot Stadium.
Walsall-born Keates told the Daily Post that he has had no contact from the Saddlers and doesn't expect any to be forthcoming as he looks to concentrate his efforts on returning the Dragons to the football league.
