MK Dons (H): Whitney Looks Ahead to This Afternoon's Crucial Clash

Jon Whitney has spoken ahead of this afternoon's clash with MK Dons, and admitted that the match is a six-pointer as if results don't go their way the Saddlers could drop into the relegation zone.
Walsall manager Jon Whitney has spoken ahead of this afternoon's League One clash with Milton Keynes Dons, and admitted that the match is a six-pointer as if results don't go their way the Saddlers could drop into the relegation zone.

The Saddlers, have at least one game in hand over many of the sides around them, have lost four of their last five league outings and are in desperate need of a positive result as the games are beginning to run out.

Jon, who was speaking via the club's official website - Saddlers.co.uk, said; "You talk about six-pointers - and this is one of them. It helps massively if you get the win but we can’t guarantee that, we have to perform.

"Some of our play against Blackburn, we were trying to do the right things but we were a little naïve. We need to recognise their game plan early on and not give them a foothold. We didn’t do enough to get a foothold against Blackburn, which you need to do if you’re to keep a team like them quiet.

"MK have been inconsistent and will be looking for some stability and to get some points on the board. We’ve got to expect their 'A' game and we’ll pick a team to entertain and play with energy, enthusiasm and enjoyment."
