Whitney Hopes to Add to His Squad 'Over the Next Week or So'

Jon Whitney has spoken to the local press and insisted that he and his backroom team are working hard to add to the squad during the January Transfer Window.
Walsall manager Jon Whitney has spoken to the local press and insisted that he and his backroom team are aware of the current lack of options and are working to add to the squad during the January Transfer Window.

The 47-year-old, who has so-far only added former loanee George Dobson to his squad, revealed that he is hoping to bring in a couple of new signings over the next week or so with particular attention being paid to wide and attacking positions.

Jon, speaking via the Express & Star, said; "I am speaking to managers and agents all the time. It sounds as if we repeat ourselves every window but it is the same process. We’ve all got targets but they are also targets for many other clubs as well.

"We’ve got to do what we can to bring the right people in. We are trying to bring a couple in over the next week or so. We are looking at both permanent deals and loans. And we need some forward players. We have lost Zeli who gave us that width.

"I also need to bring in a striker who is going to score goals. It’s not easy because we have our limits. And we’re going to have to keep working because things tend to not happen early in the window."
