Walsall Football Club have confirmed the signing of former West Ham United midfielder George Dobson, who joins on a two-and-a-half year deal from Dutch Eredivisie side Sparta Rotterdam.
The 20-year-old spent the entire 2016/17 season on loan with the Saddlers from the Hammers, scoring once in 26 all-competition appearances.
Born in Harold Wood, Dobson joined Arsenal as a youth player, going on to captain their Under-18s. After leaving the Gunners, he signed for his boyhood club West Ham in July 2015 and helped the young Hammers win the 2016 Under-21 Premier League Cup, beating Hull City on penalties in the final.
After a season with the Saddlers, Dobson rejected a summer approach from the club and opted to join Sparta Rotterdam for an undisclosed fee. After a slow start to his career abroad, which saw George feature on five just occasions for the Eredivisie side, he and the club came to terms on a contract termination, allowing him to return to the Midlands.
