Walsall midfielders Jordon Sangha and Kacy-Milan Butterfield are currently enjoying an extended loan spell with local Evo-Stik Northern Premier League side Rushall Olympic. You can find out how they got on in their latest outing, below.
Rushall kicked off 2018 with a trip to the War Memorial Ground where they faced mid-table Stourbridge with both sides looking to start the year with a solid performance.
With so many fixtures taking place over the festive period, Pics manager Liam McDonald made a couple of changes to his starting line-up including dropping Jordon Sangha to the bench, Milan Butterfield remained in the starting eleven, adding to his run of games.
Sadly, it was a day to forget for the Pics as Stourbridge handed out a New Year thrashing as they treated their home fans with a fine five-goal display.
After a quiet first half hour with little by the way of chances, Kaiman Anderson put the hosts ahead after he latched onto a long ball before rounding Pics keeper Charlie Bannister and slotting home into an empty net.
The Glassboys doubled their lead five-minutes before the break after Aaron Brown fouled Luke Benbow inside the box, concedeing a penalty. Leon Broadhurst stepped up to smash the ball down the middle and give Rushall an uphill task in the second forty-five.
Stourbridge put the game beyond doubt on 53 minutes, when Tom Tonks scored direct from a free kick down the right hand side.
The fourth Stourbridge goal, which arrived after 78 minutes, was another that beat everyone from a right hand cross. This time it was Matt Dodd who saw the ball nestle into the bottom corner.
The home side completed the scoring with nine minutes remaining as Luke Shearer latched on to a Luke Benbow flick before firing high into the corner of Bannister’s net from the left hand side.
A disappointing result for the Pics who will have a chance to get back to winning ways when they welcome Stafford Rangers to Dales Lane next weekend.
Milan Butterfield was substituted at half-time, while Jordon Sangha was brought onto the pitch at the break as Liam McDonald shuffled the pack in search of goals. More important minutes for the Saddlers duo, but no doubt a blow to their confidence as their temporary hosts are made to suffer.
