Walsall manager Jon Whitney has spoken to the local press following Saturday's League One victory over Scunthorpe United and insisted that young defender Kory Roberts, who was dropped to the bench despite several eye-catching performances, 'completely understood' the reasons behind the move.
Jon, who was speaking via the Express & Star, admitted that the Birmingham-born defender was dropped in favour of experience, he said; "I just think with young players, you have to know when to bring them out and when to put them in. I think Kory gets better each time that he comes in, but he understood the decision completely.
"I went with experience on Saturday, with Jon and Willo, as I knew Scunthorpe would be a threat up top. I went with experience but Kory was OK. He keeps his head up and he’ll be ready to call on again."
