Preston Departs as Contract Negotiations Come to an End

Walsall have confirmed that 22-year-old central defender Matt Preston has left the club after both sides failed to come to terms on a new deal.
Walsall Football Club have this afternoon confirmed that central defender Matt Preston, who was out of contract at the end of last season, has left the club after rejecting a new two-year deal over the summer.

A statement, released via Saddlers.co.uk, confirms; Walsall FC can today confirm that defender Matt Preston has left the club. The 22 year-old centre-back progressed through the Saddlers' youth ranks, signing his first professional contract in 2013.

He went on to make 50 appearances for the club, scoring three goals. Preston was offered a new two-year contract in May, which was rejected.

Talks remained ongoing throughout the summer but, as no agreement could be reached, the club and player have agreed to go their separate ways. We would like to wish Matt all the best with his future career.
