Walsall midfielder Milan Butterfield, who penned a new one-year contract with the club over the summer, is currently on loan to Vanarama National League North side Leamington. You can find out how he did in their most recent match, below.
Leamington 0 Southport 1
Bermudian midfielder Butterfield was named among the starting XI as the Brakes looked to mark their first home game of the campaign with a win, and bounce back from their midweek defeat to Tamworth in the process.
Sadly for the home side Southport continued their perfect start to the campaign as former Shrewsbury Town scholar Ethan Jones came off the bench to score the game's only goal with fifteen minutes of the second-half remaining.
After soaking up pressure from a visiting Southport side who are now one of three clubs with 100% records after the opening week, Leamington looked the better side for large parts of the game, creating several good opportunities, but they were undone by a defensive error which was gleefully snaffled up by the Sandgrounders, who look to be adapting well to the division as they look to bounce straight back up to the National League.
Young Saddler Butterfield, who joined from Robin Hood in the summer of 2016, played the full ninety-minutes, gaining some much-needed first-team football as he looks to earn a place in Jon Whitney's Walsall side over the course of the season.
