Walsall manager Jon Whitney has spoken to BBC WM following Saturday afternoon's season-opening defeat to Bury, and has insisted, despite the result, that his side was the better of the two, especially in the first-half.
The manager, who has been under plenty of pressure over the summer also praised goalkeeper Mark Gillespie, who saved two penalties to give his side every chance of winning the game.
Whitney went on to insist that the Shakers looked to stop the Saddlers from playing during the second-half as they were happy with their one-goal lead.
