Walsall goalkeeper Craig MacGillivray has this evening taken to Twitter to announce that he has decided to leave the club when his contract expires at the end of June.
Speaking via his official Twitter account, Craig thanked the club, its staff, players and fans for their support during his time with the side, but admitted that his pursuit of first-team football meant it was time to move on, he said; "The 3 years I have spent at Walsall have been an experience I will look back on with great fondness. However I have come to a stage in my career where I need to seek more game time, really kick on and progress now.
"I would like to say a huge thank you to all the players I have had the pleasure of working alongside with for the past 3 seasons, as well as the staff who have helped develop me both as a goalkeeper and a person since joining; it means the world to me."
24-year-old MacGillivray joined the Saddlers from Harrogate Town in June 2014, but has made just a handful of first-team appearances as he was second-choice behind both Richard O'Donnell and Neil Etheridge.
Craig continued; "Lastly I would like to give the biggest thank you to the fans who have been brilliant since day 1. You have made me feel part of something great here, and the support you have shown me since I have arrived at the club continually motivated me to challenge myself and show you all what I can do. I hope you continue to provide the amazing support you always do for the players, and hopefully we will meet again in the future."
