Walsall manager Jon Whitney has spoken to club journalists ahead of Tuesday evening's League One clash with relegation-threatened Port Vale, who need to take at least a point on to the final day of the season, and has insisted that his side will do whatever they can do to send their opponents home with nothing.
Speaking via Saddlers.co.uk, Jon said; "They’ll be coming into this to really try to make sure it goes to the last game. I thought they were really good for the first 30 minutes before the sending off at Bolton - they were the better team.
"They’re in a precarious position and we have to make sure we don’t give them a helping hand - and we give our fans something to shout about. I’ve got to pick a team that has some energy.Go and enjoy the occasion - that’ll be key for us. We’re professionals - I’ll make sure the players give their all on the pitch and we’ll do whatever we can to make sure they go away with nothing.
"We have to match how much it means to them to stay in the league. We have to have that same desire and passion to play with a bit of energy and a bit of bravery to get on the ball, probe and cause them problems."
