Walsall attacker Erhun Oztumer, who has bagged fourteen goals since joining the club on a free transfer last summer, has spoken to club journalists and sought to thank manager Jon Whitney and his teammates as he enjoys a superb debut campaign.
Speaking via Saddlers.co.uk, Erhun said; "I need to give credit to the gaffer. He’s played me a bit more offensive, told me to stay a bit higher and it’s paid off. I’ve got to thank the staff and the players as well because they’ve tried to give me the ball in the final third as much as possible.
"At the beginning of the season I said I wanted double figures in goals. I wanted to join Walsall FC – they were the only League One club I would join because of the way we play. I knew I was going to have a good season but how good, I didn’t know. It’s been a good season for me and the team. I feel mid-table is a good start for us and hopefully next season we’ll push on."
