Walsall defender Kory Roberts, who has made two first-team appearances after turning professional last summer, has spoken to club journalists and discussed his desire to get more time in Jon Whitney's side.
Speaking via Saddlers.co.uk, Kory, who joined the club at the age of sixteen and signed his first professional contract in May 2016, said; "I didn’t expect to break into the first-team in my first year. I’ve come in and I think I’ve done well. I’ve been playing with the reserve team, we won our league, and I was captain of that so it’s gone well this year.
"For next season, hopefully I will get as many appearances as I can for the first-team, but I’ve got to keep working hard."
Roberts, who had a brief trial with Birmingham City before joining the Saddlers, also discussed his preference to play within a back three, commenting that he finds it easier to play out from the back with some support alongside him, he said; "I find it good in a three. I think it’s easier to play out from the back as a three and get on the ball. With defending, there are more bodies around the middle to get round the ball and break down their play."
