Walsall midfielder Joe Edwards has spoken to club journalists ahead of Saturday afternoon's League One clash with Oldham Athletic and has spoken of his excitement as he and his teammates prepare for two home games in quick succession.
Joe, who was speaking via Saddlers.co.uk following the team's midweek clash with Chesterfield was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, said; "It’s great that the game’s been turned around so quickly and we can have our back-to-back home games, just the other way around now. I was disappointed at the time but it’s understandable. It was a real downpour for a couple of hours, so we’ve just got to look forward to Saturday now."
Edwards went on to discuss his belief that January's dominant performance against Sheffield United, which saw Joe, Amadou Bakayoko, Jason McCarthy and Erhun Oztumer hit the back of the net, has acted as a catalyst for the recent run of form, he said; "It did feel like there was a little switch that went off after the Sheffield United game and since then we’ve just gone into every game really confident. There was a lot of talk, saying ‘we’re a good team, we can be great’ but it was about putting a performance in so that people can believe it.
"It’s a good atmosphere at the moment, there’s a lot of positivity flying about the place. The boys are really enjoying the training and looking forward to playing at home."
