On Saturday afternoon Graham Biggs' Walsall Under 18s side returned to action as they travelled North to take on Blackpool Under 18s in the latest EFL Youth Alliance (North West) fixture of the season.
Last weekend Walsall slipped from the top of the alliance table as they suffered defeat against Port Vale. Their opponents running out winners by three-goals-to-two at Ray Hall Lane as Tobias Hayles-Docherty and Callum Cockerill-Mollett's goals were not enough to secure the win for the young Saddlers.
Blackpool replaced Walsall at the top of the table with a superb nine-nil victory over Bury. The Tangerines led their opponents by seven goals at half-time as Bury simply had no answer to their attacking play.
Today's match was far from a goal-fest as, despite creating several goal-scoring-chances, which included the Saddlers having a Cameron Peters penalty saved early in the second half, neither side could break the deadlock as the points were shared, handing the advantage to the chasing pack.
