Walsall manager Jon Whitney has spoken to the local press and, following the loan arrivals of Eoghan O'Connell and Scott Laird, has discussed his desire to add more permanent signings to his squad as he looks to have a settled squad, before discussing which positions he'd like to see filled before the close of the January Transfer Window.
Speaking via the Express & Star, Jon said; "Ideally, in the next window, we won’t make as many loan signings. But with the mass exodus we had in the summer, we are still in a position where we need to utilise the loan market.
"I’d rather make permanent signings. That makes it easier for me to get a really settled team and push on. For now though I'd like a couple more. A striker and a winger. It will probably be one loan and one permanent.
"But my targets are other people’s targets so it’s a bit of a poker game at the moment. A lot of deals in the window happen right at the end though. But if we can I’d much rather get the players in early and get them settled."
