Following a week of voting, Walsall midfielder Erhun Oztumer's exquisite 40-yard lob against Swindon Town has been named as the Sky Bet League One Goal of the Month for October.
After news of the award had been released Oztumer, who fought off competition from Peterborough United’s Chris Forrester and Bristol Rovers' Matty Taylor to scoop the prize spoke to club journalists and accepted the award on behalf of his teammates.

Speaking via Saddlers.co.uk, Erhun said; “I’m delighted to accept the award, not just for me but on behalf of my teammates as well. It was a memorable goal. I just remember their right-back trying to pass the ball inside and I’ve read it early, took a touch and seen the goalkeeper off his line.
"I just thought I’d give it a try and luckily it’s gone in. To be honest, I thought the second one in the game was potentially better because of the pass from Kevin Toner but I’ll take this one!
"It’s the third time this season that I’ve tried to pull it off from that sort of range so I’m glad one of them came off. It ranks right up there in terms of the goals I’ve scored. I’ve never scored from that distance before and possibly won’t again so it’s definitely one I won’t forget."
