On Tuesday evening Jon Whitney's Saddlers travelled the short distance to the King Power Stadium where they took on Leicester City's Under 21s in the latest round of CheckaTrade Trophy games.

The Saddlers, who were yet to lose a game in the recently re-designed competition having previously enjoyed victories over Grimsby Town and Sheffield United, opened the scoring after ten minutes of the second half as Amadou Bakayoko was on hand to tap home following a Jason McCarthy cross.
That goal, which was Bakayoko's fifth in the competition, was enough to see the Saddlers retain top position in Northern Group H, guaranteeing a home tie in the next round. No doubt the Walsall faithful will be planning the victory parade as we speak...
