Walsall hope be handed a fitness boost ahead of Tuesday evening's Sky Bet League One clash with Gillingham as summer signing Simeon Jackson could be set to return to the starting line-up.
Jackson, who has recently returned from international duty with Canada, missed Saturday afternoon's League One victory over Shrewsbury Town with a pelvis injury.
Walsall will definitely be without Amadou Bakayoko who was red carded towards the end of Saturday's victory over the Shrews as he was judged to have over celebrated Erhun Oztumer's 88th minute winner.
Saddlers gaffer Jon Whitney has spoken to the local press and offered an update on Simeon's condition and Amadou's suspension. Speaking via the Express & Star, Jon said; "Simeon first felt a problem with his pelvis in the last home game against Millwall. He went on international duty with Canada. He trained over there, missed one game but played the other.
"In hindsight, he possibly shouldn’t have. But you can’t stop a player from wanting to play football. He came back a little bit tight and I couldn’t risk him. But it’s worked out well because Ama will now be missing on Tuesday.
"Simeon is still a little bit tight but it was important not to gamble on him. We are hopeful he will be back.”
