Walsall manager Jon Whitney has spoken to club journalists ahead of this weekend's League One clash with near-rivals Shrewsbury Town, and has insisted that the Saddlers must respect their managerless opponents, despite their recent run of form.
Speaking via Saddlers.co.uk, Jon said; "We have to respect them for what they’re going to bring. They’ve got something there, it’s just not quite clicking for them at the moment. We’ve got to make sure that when it does click, it’s not against us."
Jon then went on to discuss his side's recent results, insisting that the team are improving every week, he continued; "The confidence is really high, and the team was really buoyant. We’ve lost one in six, suddenly that becomes one in seven. That’s what builds confidence and that is what gets you results. Our game management is starting to show its prowess.
"We played at the kind of tempo I like, and that is how I like my teams to be, hard working and hard to beat.”
