WALSALL XI | Hallwood; Tonks, Laird, Butterfield, Vann, Roberts, Freemantle, Sangha, Peters, Maddocks, Ginnelly

SUBSTITUTES | Ganley; Cockerill-Mollett, Mason, Kendrick, Shorrock

The match, which took place at the Birmingham County FA's Headquarters on Ray Hall Lane in Great Barr, kicked off at 2:00pm and saw Port Vale take the lead after nineteen minutes of play.

Vale striker Rigino Cicilia was alert to pounce on a poor Kory Roberts back pass and slotted the ball past a helpless Chandler Hallwood in the Walsall goal.

The visitors doubled their lead just before the break as Dan Turner, who was found in space by Omar Haughton, fired home with a low right-footed effort from outside the area.

Though Walsall had goal-scoring opportunities, with Scott Laird and Cameron Peters going close during the second half, there were no further goals as the Saddlers ultimately slipped to defeat. Their next Central League match is away to Morecambe on Wednesday, 28th September.
