Following Monday morning's 'Open Training Session', Walsall defender James O'Connor has spoken to the local press and insisted that the club's recent squad changes have been 'refreshing', and has also discussed his desire to get the season underway.
Speaking to the Walsall Advertiser's Sports Editor Michael Beardmore, James said; "Once the final game against Barnsley finished last season there was obviously huge disappointment. So to have a huge turnover in players has been quite refreshing actually.
"It is surprising really but it is new faces and new ideas and it keeps things exciting both for the players individually and as a team. I don't think there is any point in dwelling on the past and wondering what might have been. We are a completely different side now and that is exciting for the club.
"We are all looking to put the gaffer's new ideas out on to the field on Saturday and throughout the season. Hopefully we will be a success and we can't wait to get going."
