Walsall defender Theo Vassell, who is currently enjoying a loan spell with Vanarama National League side Chester, suffered what appeared to be a serious injury during the Blues' clash with Sutton United on Saturday afternoon.
Theo, who had been named among the starting XI for the match, was stretchered off midway through the second half following a clash with an opposition player.
While information is fairly sketchy, it is understood that Theo may have suffered a concussion along with a badly damaged nose as he was attacking the opposition's backline.
Buzzing with the result and the performance from the team, also good news as I'm recovering well🙏🏽 thanks for the messages!— Theodore (@TheoVassell) August 27, 2016
There was a delay of around ten minutes as Theo was treated by medical staff at the ground before being transferred to a local hospital for examination and further treatment. Theo has since taken to Twitter to confirm that he is recovering well.
Chester went on to win the game by four-goals-to-nil as Blaine Hudson (3'), Ryan Lloyd (7'), Tom Shaw (85') and Kane Richards (90+1') all scored to seal victory for the Blues.
