Following Friday afternoon's news that the Saddlers had completed the signing of former Stoke City and Oldham Athletic youngster Theo Vassell, Walsall manager Jon Whitney has spoken to club journalists and revealed that Theo may have to wait for an opportunity in the first-team.
Speaking via Saddlers.co.uk, Jon said; “Deano spoke really highly of Theo from his time at Oldham. He came in at the end of last year and trained with the first team and I was really pleased with his application and defensive attributes.
“He’s quite old school. He just wanted to defend first and foremost, and then work on the technical side. He’s one for the future. He may push through and be one we put out on loan to get some games under his belt. But again, we’re a developing club and he’s one who will hopefully be a centre half for Walsall in the coming years.”
