With the 2016/17 Sky Bet League One campaign just over two weeks away, Walsall manager Jon Whitney has spoken to the local press and confirmed that he hopes to add two more players to his rebuilt Saddlers squad.
Speaking via the Express & Star, Jon said; "I think there will be a couple more. I haven’t finished yet. The chairman might think I have but I’m still pushing. There are a few little pieces of the jigsaw I need but I have got the main nucleus which is really pleasing considering the lads that have left.
"We are a good unit and we won’t fail through a lack of effort. We will push it every game because we have got good, honest lads."
When asked whether he will be looking to add another striker to the side, he said; "Possibly. I think we will need another one to support us. That is another option I am looking for but I have got several options."
Jon continued; "I have had three or four who I have spoken to. But when I have spoken to them, I didn’t get the feeling for it. I had to get the feeling for it. I had to have the players look me in the eye and tell me they want to come to this club."
