Following Friday afternoon's news that Walsall were facing competition for the signature of Huddersfield Town striker Jordy Hiwula, the Saddlers' Sky Bet League One rivals Bradford City have today captured the Manchester-born striker on a season-long loan.

21-year-old, Hiwula, who enjoyed a successful loan spell at the Banks's Stadium last season, had joined the Terriers on a three-year contract from Manchester City last summer, but failed to make an impact at the John Smith's Stadium as he was loaned out to Wigan Athletic and the Saddlers where he gained some much-needed first-team football.

Jordy had previously spent a loan spell at the Banks's Stadium during the 2014/15 campaign, where he would make around twenty first-team appearances and also play during the Saddlers' Johnstone's Paint Trophy Final defeat to Bristol City.

Today's news will serve as a blow to Walsall as manager Jon Whitney had previously stated his desire to add Jordy to the squad. Hopefully the Saddlers will be able to secure their targets soon as the season draws ever closer.
