Walsall manager Jon Whitney has spoken to the local press following Tuesday evening's pre-season defeat to Notts County, and has praised his side for their spirited second-half performance, and also went on to single out Amadou Bakayoko, who has bagged five goals over the pre-2016/17 campaign.
Speaking via the Express & Star, Jon said; "There are a couple of lessons to learn. Jon Stead was a threat, they sat deep, overloaded the midfield and made it difficult for us. Sometimes we overplayed. At times we needed more of a purpose. But I was delighted with the second-half.
"Ama again. He is giving me a real headache, but it’s a great problem to have. His work ethic was great. He has been great this pre-season and has got another two goals.
"There are a lot of things to look at though. I was disappointed to go three down. There were a few individual errors but it’s better to make those mistakes now than against Wimbledon."
