Walsall midfielder Florent Cuvelier, who recently re-joined the club on a one-year deal, has spoken to the local press and insisted that his injury woes are behind him as he sets his sights on a starting position in the Saddlers' opening game of the Sky Bet League One campaign.
Speaking via the Express & Star, Flo, who suffered a career-threatening knee injury while playing on-loan at Port Vale and has played just twenty-four games since leaving the Banks’s Stadium in 2012, said; "Unfortunately, I had a bad knee injury but that is behind me now. I am fit, the gaffer is looking after me and making sure I will be as fit and as fresh as I can be for the first game of the season against Wimbledon.
"Jon’s knowledge is really important. I think part of the reason I have missed games was due to a bit of misunderstanding about my body. Managers wanted to rush me back when I needed a bit more time. It’s crucial to have someone who can work with you on that and the gaffer here can do that.
"I’m delighted to be back. Obviously, I have had two successful loan spells here before. I truly enjoyed every second of those loan spells and now to say I am actually officially a Saddler it’s a great feeling. The club has made some giant steps forward so it’s very encouraging."
