Leicester City's Deeney Pursuit 'Not Dependent' on Vardy Moving to Arsenal

Sky Sports are reporting that Leicester City's pursuit of Watford striker Troy Deeney, which could see Walsall pocket somewhere in the region of £6,000,000, is not dependent on Jamie Vardy's proposed transfer to Arsenal.
Sky Sports are reporting that Leicester City's pursuit of Watford striker Troy Deeney, which could see Walsall pocket somewhere in the region of £6,000,000, is not dependent on Jamie Vardy's proposed transfer to Arsenal.

Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth confirmed the Hornets have already rejected a bid in the region of £20m and it is his understanding that that a bid upwards of £25,000,000 would make Watford consider selling the striker.

Other unconfirmed reports also suggest that Deeney has already agreed terms with the Barclays Premier League Champions, but the two clubs are yet to finalise a transfer agreement.

27-year-old Deeney, who began his professional career with the Saddlers, departed the Banks’s Stadium in the summer of 2010 for a fee of £500,000, with the deal also including a series of performance related bonuses and a 20% sell-on fee.

Meanwhile Vardy, who is currently with the rest of Roy Hodgson's England squad as they prepare for Monday afternoon's UEFA EURO 2016 Group B clash with Slovakia, is expected to wait until the end of the tournament before deciding whether he will join the Gunners after the Emirates Stadium side triggered his contract release clause.
